The sight that assailed my eyes at the university today! What we call a mature student, in a white t-shirt, showing off his pot-belly and extraordinarily obtrusive navel, and -of all things- shorts!! And I don't mean jeans shorts, like what them young boys wear from time to time, or even beach shorts, I mean the primary/basic school, PE, right-under-my-behind shorts!!
This man traipsing all over campus, oblivious to the stares and giggles, speckled chicken legs and all, with his book-bag strapped over his shoulder...... oh lawd! I had to shake my head, bite my lip, and look away.
But it made me think about how popular shorts are becoming on campus. With the girls, I mean. And they keep getting shorter. The other day I saw two with their thin little strips of shorts-band-aids showing off butt-cheeks and cracks... not to mention the microscopic skirts, and sheer, sheer nylon tights!
I'm not trying to dictate what people should or should not wear to class, but this is the kinda thing that make professors complain bout student attire, the type of thing that leads to discussions bout university students wearing uniforms to classes... Why, when we have freedom, we always indulge in excess??

MMM, sounds like a good topic for an article.
The short shorts thing is really getting outa hand. And the skirts. Why them wear them outta the house if them know they going to be pulling them down all day?
men: this isn't the seventies, short shorts are for soccer and swimming only! this isn't europe, okay.
Gussie, I know right! None of this short shorts thing!
Mike, like I said, I'm really not trying to tell people what to wear. I'm just hoping the University doesn't start with teh uniform thing.
Personally, I think it's distasteful to wear clothes that are so revealing that you (the wearer) are uncomfortable in them. That just does not make sense to me... but then, women wear heels!
LUv handles, huh Lucy? I couldnt find anything better at the time to depict what I was trying to say
Seems to have gotten a fellow blogger a little excited (stares at Beth)
I've heard from an Edna Manley student, tho, that there were proposals that students there should wear uniforms because their attire is 'getting outta hand'...
Maybe not uniforms but a guideline.Whatever happened to jeans and capris?
Ruth, I would love to check out bloggers read but I keep getting a blank page

Sounds like I need to r-enroll. Heh heh heh.
Lef di man mek im wear im shorts! He provides much needed levity and variety in an otherwise dull t-shirt and jeans wearing crowd.
As for wearing clothes that make you feel uncomfortable, I stop doing that since I was a teenager. One fateful visit to reggae sunsplash did that for me; the jeans was too tight so i couldnt sit down, could bearly walk, and it squeeze up mi cocobread. No more of that for me, thank you! My motto: I cannot run in it, I am not wearing it. Style an fashion not gwain mek me figget seh mi is a oooman inna a jamaica. no man nah ketch me an' hol' me dung cau seh di shoes heel too high or the skirt too short an tight. No sah, nuh mi!
lol!! Squuze up yuh coco bread??? LMAO!!!
