Doing it::Why can't people just call sex sex?? What's so hard about saying the word?
Loving it::
They did her::
He did them::
She does everybody::
Sex!! There, I said it... and I'm still alive...
We find every other word to candy-coat and sugar-paint that one little word: "body-talk", "having relations", "getting laid", "getting screwed", "putting it on somebody (or something, as the case may be)",the infamous "f" word, "hitting it", "coupling", "duggu-duggu", ... but we fail to say exactly what it is: sex!!
A couple had sex? They did it.
A guy had some sex? He did it too.
A girls gets a VD from sex? She caught it from doing it cause she didn't wear it...
Why is it so hard to say sex and sex-related words? What's so toxic and poisonous about them? Why is sex taboo? It's not even hard to spell. It's a three letter word, for crying out loud: S.E.X!
Don't even ask what got me started in this direction, but please people, words are simply a bunch of abstract letters strung together. They only acquire negative or positive connotations when -get this- when we add them!! So nothing's really taboo unless we want it to be...
And please please please please please note: you cannot beat your kid for saying the word SEX!!!

Amen! Finally - someone who isn't afraid to call sex sex! LOL
Great post, Ruthibelle. :)
Hallelujah, Ruthi's back. Welcome back chica. Missd u lots.
And no, y ou should never beat yuour kid for saying sex, unless they use a certain infamous 'f' word...
tell 'em like it is Ruthibelle...yeah people are so messed up. i don't see my cat and dog getting tied up in knots over the idea of sex.
so why do we? you know why? coz we don't know where morality begins and where it stops. sex, the most natural function human beings still participate in is demonized. its religion that's the problem you know...sorry but that's what i think it is.
something that can be so wonderful and exhilerating is tainted by false, twisted notion of morality...
away with it!
Ehhh...the word sex sounds to strerile.
when i was a child a bunch of kids at my primary school stayed behind after class one day to illegally write SEX all over the walls in stolen chalk... there was much giggling and surreptitious running around... we all thought it was a bad word...
society is really twisted when it comes to this stuff... i mean think of all the wonderfully profane word w... erm... they could've written...
^5! I feel you on this. Sex on a whole has gotten so convoluted and for no good reason. I'd rather someone say, I had sex with so and so, than say, I hit that; it makes it sound so dirty or like a game of friggin tag. C'mon folk, if you're having sex, you should be able to say and use the damn word.
love to live; live to love!
I agree with you totally! Two that I just cant stand...getting laid and hitting it.
im going to tell on you. you said the S word :-)
hey didnt realize you were back blogging welcome back
Good Point....Say what you mean to say....
I know, right CP??? Just say what u mean to say and stop this pretentious candy-coating!!
@Will, smh & lol... only you, Will, only you... that story take the cake :)
@Mike, what you mean the word sounds sterile?? ANd the other words sound 'less' sterile? And aint it funny how the word sex would not sound sterile if we would just use it intstead of them other words...?
@Jdid. Thanks much. Glad to be back. And I didnt know u were a tattletale :-D
@Blu, good point. If you can have sex, then the least you can do is call it what it is...
Annie's right. Is like ppl get ashamed of sex. I not taking on the religion argument, but I think sex has become stigmatised to be a 'bad' thing... hence the word censorship...
SEX!! I said it too. It seems sex is a taboo word for most people, just like penis and vagina. It seems most of us are socialized to think that these words are somehow bad and should not be mentioned.
oops...you did it again. Another blog masterpiece.
Keep doing it Ruthibelle.
I had been thinking of writing a blog about the now fairly common use of the word "heavy sex" in Jamaica to mean "heavy set". Your observation is a nice contrast of us avoiding that word.
lmao@heavylogix... i will keep doing it, m'dear. OR at least try :)
@Stunner, I woner if our parents really thought they were protecting us by keeping us ignorant and fearful of these things... Ignorance and fear is never safe... never!
You missed one phrase Ruthie "Out of order-ness" When I was little this one phrase encompassed sex and a myriad of other sex/sexuality-related terms that my my little mind could only understand as bad. The logic was if it is "out of order-ness" then it must be bad - but what was bad about? No one could tell. I think that is a part of how we (as a society) have started to failed our children. It is not just the word "sex." It is also "penis" and "vagina". How many children are told their private parts are their t-lee (penis) coco-bread (vagina)and list of other foolishness all except the correct names as if to say it is some great crime. As one of the previous comments suggested it is time we call a spade a spade. This is the correct word and this is what it is. Leave no loop-hole for paedophiles to come and trick our children.
So tru Claudine. They called everything out-of-order!! If you even so much as sneeze, you did outta-order!! But then, I think that our parents thought they were protecting us. Nobody taught them how to address these issues, so they never did... leaving us open to all kinds of misinformation and exploitation. Truly people perish for lack of knowledge.
ha ha..brilliant post!! or should i say sexy post! :P
People socialised to think sex is clinical as one poster alluded to. In chatting with some people they even think vagina and penis are too.So they prefer all the phrases and whatnots.
Sex is not a bad word.
no! It's not!
