6 Annoying Net Thingies

1. Sites with music I can't turn off... grrrr! Especially repetitive music, like Lambchop's song that doesn't end, yes it goes on and on my frieeeend...

2. Pop-ups! Hate em, hate em, hate em! Especially smileys, cursors and screensavers; and why am I always the 9,999,999th person to visit a site?

3. Updates – every danged day!! Like I don't have anything better to do with my time!! And slowing up my computer...

4. Viruses... well obviously.

5. Forwards: Isn't it amazing how friends can't even spend a minute to write you a nice little personal message, but can find time everyday to assault your inbox with stupid, corny jokes, semi-porn and ridiculous (sometimes downright spooky) chain letters? Please... spare me...

6. LOL, ROFL, LMAO overkill: I love net-speak as much as the next person, but reading it every five words or so is just tiring, especially since we all know you're not really rolling on the floor laughing or even laughing out loud. Actually, come to think of it, does anyone really roll on the floor laughing over an IM?

Feel free to add to this list...

LOL! U R so right! I H8 those things 2! LOL!

And you're completely right about #4! I don't get it either. Why do friends send stupid, annoying FWD's, but can't find the time to say, "Hey, what's up? What are you doing?"

One of life's many mysteries...

Hysterical! I could roll on the floor while laughing, but I'll pass.

Those who still email forwards don't blog. The world has moved on folks!

I like to reply with a "false" proven by Snopes.com--that always gets them! ;)

Be careful of updates.

love them all, but #5 stands out the most to me. I can't tell you how many times I've called folk out for this very same thing.

love to live; live to love!

I know what you mean, David, Jewel.

It's the plague of the computer age. Bank tellers/phone operators/receptionists being replaced by machines, and personal messages being replaced by computer-generated garbage.

I think -scratch that- know that halfa my friends (and, to be honest, me sometimes) are just plain old lazy. Why sit down to think about, then type a whooole e-mail about what's happening in your life (not the most comfortable topic in the world, since it actually requires real thought, reflection and analysis, and maybe coming to terms with some not-so-delicate truths) when you can effortlessly click a forward button and pass on a corny joke??

Why be original and real when you can be superficial and lazy?? Eh? Originality is just.too.much.work!

Or so I think they think (or rather, so I think they never stop to think) Maybe I'm reading into it too much?
*sigh*

I should do a blog post on that one.

Ruthi,

yes, completely agree. i've tried w/o success to keep one of my closest friends from sending me crap by email but she just doesn't get it.

i hardly ever open them or check them out. its cyberlitter. why would yr friends (or Mom) want to drown you in litter huh?

i guess because they love u, i've jsut resigned myself to it.

lol Annie. I should try that line with my friends... stop the forwards, you're drowning me with litter!

Will, your response was soo painful to read... but you knew that lol :) lol... Point well made. Point well taken. Painful point tho.

Pop-up blocker is one of the best things since slice bread, I freaking hate pop ups!

I hate forwards especially the ones threatening me if I don't forward to at least x amount of people.

I hate spam emails, spammers should be shot!

Thank God for the great Pop up blocker, one of the best thing since cheese patties. Agree with all the stuff, personally, I don't use the net speak stuff - EVER.
